Since Rei Kawakubo's arival from Japan 20 years ago, she has challenged Western ideals of body shape and garment construction and use of colours. Kawakubo describes her philosophy being freedom and quoted, 'it is clear to me that creativity becomes harder. But I have to continue, I dont belive I have achieved all I can yet.'
